Yarn Saver’s unique program allows you to sell or donate your yarn hassle-free. Whether it’s from your collection, an estate, or a craft store overstock, we provide a way for you to declutter and earn back a portion of your investment.

How it Works – Selling on Yarn Saver

Step 1: Register Your Profile

If you have never purchased from Yarn Saver before, start by registering your account. If you have shopped with us before, you can login with your existing customer account. We welcome yarn enthusiasts of all backgrounds, whether you’re a seasoned crafter or a newcomer to the fiber arts world.

Step 2: List Your Yarn & Fiber Arts Related Items

Provide descriptions, quality photos, and assign the brand, if available, behind your yarns. Be sure to use tags to indicate its current condition and type! Set your price and quantity, and you’re off to the races! You can also set a partial quantity if you have not quite a full skein available. If you only have a partial skein, just list the quantity as 1 and do not use the partial skein field.

Step 3: Connect with Buyers

After your listings are live, our vibrant community of knitters, crocheters, and fiber artists will be able to browse and purchase your yarn. makes it easy to connect with buyers who are specifically looking for your types of items.

Step 4: Ship and Earn

Once you’ve made a sale, simply package your yarn, ship it to its new home, and earn! We’re here to support you at every step, ensuring a smooth transaction process.

Alternative Option: Selling Direct to Yarn Saver


Yarn Saver accepts direct sales of sizable quantities of yarn from estates, personal collections, and craft store overstocks on a limited basis. You must apply using the form on this page for consideration of your project.

*Ability to ship and/or proximity to Connecticut, USA as well as the quantity and quality of the items will affect your application status for selling direct to Yarn Saver. Selling through the website on your own destasher account is not affected by these elements.

Follow our straightforward process to send us your yarn. From freezing to inspection, we ensure every skein is ready for its next home. Choose between receiving a larger store credit or a direct cash payout through PayPal or check. Please note, we only accept sellers from the United States currently.

  • In your shipping box, please include a piece of paper with your name, phone number, and email address so that we may reach out to you.
  • After your package arrives, it should take at least 4 weeks to process your items, and we will follow up with you for the next steps when we’re done.

Yarn’s Journey at Yarn Saver

Here’s the play-by-play of your batch’s journey through Yarn Saver:

  • Your items are received at Yarn Saver, either through the mail or an approved local hand-off.
  • An email confirmation will be sent to the email you provided. If you send us yarn or fiber, your fiber will enter the freezing process, which takes at least 2 weeks. Your fiber will then be inspected, which takes 5 – 14 days depending on the amount of yarn provided.
  • Your batch would then enter the buying queue! When it’s your turn for evaluation, all your items will be priced, and a tally of prices will be kept.
  • As your batch is priced, pieces are mixed in with our general inventory.
  • After your batch is priced, your tally will enter the calculation queue, where someone in our team reviews each buying sheet and calculates your cash and shop credit totals.
  • After your batch totals are calculated, your buying form is sent to the email queue – where someone in our team will email you and provide your totals. You must respond to our email within four weeks of the email being sent to receive your payout.
  • Once we receive your choice of payout, your batch will enter the payout queue and you’ll receive either your cash or credit payout.
  • We do accept donations, but you can also choose between receiving store credit or a paper check/PayPal for your items:
    • Mailed Check: 20% of value
    • PayPal Direct Payment: 25% of value
    • Store Gift Card Credit: 30% of value
    • We cannot provide direct cash or other payment methods at this time.

At the end of the process, we will not send you a detailed breakdown of each item, but instead a total amount for either cash or credit. Unless arranged otherwise, all your items that were passed on will be rehomed to local community craft groups to create items for those in need and not returned to you.
