Yarn Saver is an online secondhand yarn shop based in Middlefield, Connecticut, USA. We buy used yarn and fiber arts supplies directly from sellers and resell them through our store. This makes it easy for fiber artists to destash what they are not using and find affordable materials for their next project.
We started as a personal destash. After years of collecting, Christina had a yarn inventory that rivaled local yarn stores. Managing hundreds of sales through social media or direct messages felt impossible. Using her skills from her 20+ year programming career, Yarn Saver became its own website. It was built to make browsing, searching, and purchasing secondhand yarn a straightforward experience from the eyes of a fellow fiber artist. What started as one person’s stash problem has since grown into a full online thrift store for the fiber arts community.

How Selling Works
Yarn Saver isn’t a marketplace where you list your own items – we handle all of that. If you have yarn, fiber, tools, or other fiber arts supplies you’re looking to part with, you submit an assessment through your account on our site. Once approved, you ship your items to us (or arrange a local drop-off if you’re in the area), and we take it from there.
Every incoming shipment goes through our decontamination process; it is a multi-week freeze-thaw-freeze cycle that eliminates pests at every stage of the lifecycle. After that, we inspect, catalog, photograph, price, and list everything ourselves. You choose your payout method (store credit, PayPal, or mailed check), and you’re done. No managing listings, no fielding buyer questions, no trips to the post office.
We buy everything fiber arts related – from big box acrylics to indie-dyed luxury skeins, tools, project bags, even novelty items like enamel pins. If it’s in usable condition, we’re interested.
How Buying Works
Our inventory rotates regularly as new thrift and used yarn comes in from sellers across the USA. We carry a wide range of fiber types, weights, and brands – all secondhand, always priced below retail even if its brand new. Every skein in the store has been through our full inspection and decontamination process before it’s listed to mitigate potential issues as best we can. We still recommend doing your own freezing process!
We accept PayPal, Venmo, Pay Later services, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and credit or debit cards at checkout. Orders $55 and over ship free.
Why Secondhand Yarn?
Buying used yarn keeps perfectly good fiber out of landfills and closets where it’s not doing anyone any good. The fiber arts community has always been resourceful, and shopping thrift is an extension of that – it’s easier on your budget, it’s better for the environment, and it keeps yarn in the hands of people who will actually use it. Items we can’t sell go to local charitable groups who put them to work making accessories, blankets, and craft projects for the community, local schools and classrooms, and even as filling for stuffed animals!
