Sell or Donate Your Yarn with Ease

Follow our straightforward process to sell your yarn direct to us for a payout! From freezing to inspection, we ensure every skein is ready for its next home. Choose between receiving a larger store credit or a direct payout through PayPal or check.

Please note, we only accept sellers from the United States at this time.

We provide solutions to sell unwanted items for:

  • Estate Sales: Turn a loved one’s collection into cherished projects for others.
  • Personal Stashes: Update your yarn collection by selling or donating what you no longer need.
  • Business Liquidations: We offer a solution for stores looking to clear out inventory. Please contact us directly if you are a business looking to liquidate items.

We have our own online assessment system where you can create a list of items you have, or request a manual assessment where we will do all the item documentation for you. Either way, creating an account with us is the way to start.

Our Process

While we accept almost all items, we are limited in the amount of space we have for storage as a small business. Because of this, your assessment goes through an approval process that will let you know if we currently have space to take in more items at this time. Due to popularity, we are currently operating on a waitlist. Our current average wait times are 6 – 16 weeks, depending on the number of items in your assessment. Sometimes we receive assessments with 300 or more items at once!

Please do not send your items to Yarn Saver without explicit approval. Once you received the “Approved” status, you will be able to select your delivery method. Then, you will receive delivery instructions on how to send your items to us. If you have not gone through this step yet, then do not send your items! We have a strict Sending Without Authorization policy. If we have not approved your assessment yet, it’s most likely because we don’t have room for your items yet! We appreciate your understanding of our limitations as a small business.

For more information about our detailed policies regarding assessments, please read our terms and conditions.

We offer the following percentage rates for purchasing yarn:

  • Mailed check: 20% of the batch’s total value
  • PayPal transfer: 25% of the batch’s total value
  • Store credit: 30% of the batch’s total value

If you request a manual assessment, we reduce this percentage by 5% on all three tiers to cover the costs of our staff listing and researching item information for you.

Please be sure to read our Frequently Asked Questions to find answers to more questions you may have.

Tips for Sending Your Items

  • 99% of the time, items are sent in by mail. We strongly recommend using a discount shipping rate provider such as Pirate Ship. Buying your label at the store will cost considerably more money to ship your box. We do not provide free or discounted shipping labels for incoming shipments.
  • We can provide a local drop off at our Middlefield, CT office, but this is done by appointment only. Please indicate that in your direct sale inquiry, and we can make arrangements. We do not offer pickup services for any location. If you show up at our office without a prior appointment, we will be unable to intake your items.
  • Please provide any receipts, tags, labels, or otherwise for your items if you have it to help us identify items in your shipment. Fiber that has no label or easy way to determine brand or type will be valued by the gram as either natural or synthetic.
  • All time estimates indicated on this website are for shipments sent under 10 lbs. If you sent a larger shipment or multiple shipments, the time it will take to process your items will significantly increase.

What We Do and Do Not Accept

We really love when you send us the following:

  • Fibers: From yarn to roving and everything in-between, fiber is our top seller.
  • Tools: Needles, hooks, notions, cases, and other items related to the fiber arts can also be sold to us.
  • Bags and Accessories: A fun fiber arts related enamel pin, a project bag with a lot of life left in it – as long as a fellow fiber artist can use it, we’ll buy it.

We pass on items like these:

  • Contaminated with pests, mold, or strong odors, as well as containing excessive pet hair or dirt. Please do not send dirty, pest ridden, or with any kind of smell (either “perfume” or otherwise) on your items. We will have to discard the entire container.
  • Severely tangled or damaged skeins. If someone else wouldn’t be able to use it in the condition it is in, we will pass on it.
