Sell or Donate Your Yarn with Ease
Have extra yarn, fiber, or tools you no longer need? We make it easy to turn your stash into cash — or store credit — so your items can find a new home with another maker.
We buy all kinds of fiber arts items: yarn, roving, spinning fiber, tools, project bags, enamel pins, and more. We don’t turn things away based on brand or fiber type. If it’s clean, usable, and something another maker would enjoy, we want it.
You choose how you’d like to be paid:
- Store Credit (highest percentage payout)
- PayPal Transfer
- Mailed Check
We only accept sellers from the United States at this time.
Inherited a Craft Stash? We Can Help You Figure Out What to Do With It.
If you’ve recently lost someone who knit, crocheted, spun, or wove, you may have walked into a room full of yarn, needles, patterns, hooks, looms, and tools you’ve never seen before. It’s a lot. Especially on top of everything else you’re navigating.
I want you to know this section exists because I’ve been there. I’ve lost people I love, and I know how the work doesn’t stop when the grief starts. There’s a house to sort through, decisions to make, and a hundred small things that suddenly fall on whoever is left standing. Their craft supplies shouldn’t be one more thing that overwhelms you.
You don’t have to know what any of it is to ask for help. Reach out through our contact form and select “Handling Inherited Craft Supplies” from the subject drop down. We’ll talk you through what you have, what might have value, what’s worth holding onto for sentimental reasons, and what to do with the rest. There’s no obligation to sell anything to us, this is just guidance, offered freely.
We’d rather you feel a little less overwhelmed than make a sale.
And if you’d rather we just handle it…
If walking through it piece by piece still feels like too much, we offer a dedicated estate service to take it off your hands entirely. That includes a flat 35% payout rate and complimentary pickup within 30 miles of Middlefield, CT (06455) so you don’t have to box, weigh, or ship anything yourself.
We extend this offer in good faith to support our community through real loss. Please reserve it for genuine estate situations so we can keep offering it to the families who truly need it.
To request estate services, reach out through the same contact form and select “Handling Inherited Craft Supplies” from the subject drop down. Make sure you leave a note in your message you are local and would like to know more about pickup services. We’ll follow up within 1-5 business days to coordinate next steps.
How It Works
Step 1: Create an account and start an assessment.
Sign up or log in at yarnsaver.com. From your account, you can create an assessment one of two ways:
- Online assessment: You list your items yourself using our system. This gets you our standard payout rates.
- Manual assessment — Our team lists and researches everything for you. This option has lower payout rates because of the extra work involved on our end.
Step 2: Get Approved!
After you submit, your assessment enters our approval queue. Depending on how much space we have, your assessment will be marked as either Pending or Waitlisted.
- PENDING means you’ll get a decision within a week.
- WAITLISTED means it could be 30 days or longer before approval. Larger assessments (100+ unique items or 500+ total items) may wait longer.
Step 3: Ship or drop off your items.
Once approved, you’ll choose a delivery method in your account. Almost all sellers ship their items to us. We recommend using a discount shipping service like Pirate Ship — buying a label at the post office will cost significantly more.
A few important things about shipping:
- We do not provide shipping labels, boxes, or packing materials.
- You are responsible for all shipping costs.
- We strongly recommend buying shipping insurance. We are not responsible for packages that are lost or damaged in transit.
- You must select a delivery method and ship/schedule your drop-off appointment within 7 days of approval, or your assessment will be reset to draft and you’ll need to resubmit.
Local drop-off is available by appointment only at our Middlefield, CT office. No walk-ins. Missing a scheduled appointment without notice may disqualify you from selling with us for 90 days.
Pack your items carefully — use sealed bags, separate by brand or type, and include any labels, tags, or receipts you have. The easier it is for us to identify your items, the better your payout will be. Fiber without labels will be weighed and valued by the gram.
Neatly Packaged Bonus: +5% to Your Payout Rate
Already do us a kindness and we’ll return the favor. If your assessment arrives with items separated and bagged in clear plastic storage bags (sorted by brand), we’ll add 5% on top of your chosen payout rate as a thank-you for helping us process your assessment faster.
No extra paperwork or pre-approval needed. Just sort, bag, and ship. We’ll notify you after receiving your items and apply the bonus automatically.
Step 4: We receive, Clean, and assess your items.
When your package arrives, we’ll email you a confirmation that is has been Received. All fiber goes through a mandatory 2–3 week freezing process to kill any potential pests before our team inspects anything.
After freezing, your items enter the assessment queue. We price each item using our own proprietary valuation process based on market conditions, item condition, resale demand, age of the item, and more. Our valuations are final — we do not negotiate prices or provide item-by-item breakdowns.
Step 5: Pick your payout.
Once assessment is done, we’ll email you with your payout options. You’ll have 30 days to choose your preferred payment method and provide the necessary info (mailing address for check, email for PayPal, etc.).
If we don’t hear back from you after 30 days and at least two email attempts, your assessment may be marked as abandoned. That means you lose your payout offer and your items. Please keep your contact info up to date in your account.
After you choose, payment is sent within 1–5 business days.
Current total processing time is 3 – 5 weeks.
As of April 11th, 2026
This estimate is based on an assessment with 30 or fewer unique items, starting from when we receive your items to when we send your payout offer.

Payout Rates
Online assessment (you list the items):
- Mailed check: 20% of assessed value
- PayPal transfer: 25% of assessed value
- Store credit: 30% of assessed value
Manual assessment (we list the items for you):
- Mailed check: 15% of assessed value
- PayPal transfer: 20% of assessed value
- Store credit: 25% of assessed value
If you submit an online assessment but more than half the items are missing or have incorrect information, your payout will be switched to manual assessment rates.
What We Accept
We love receiving clean, well-stored fiber arts items of all kinds — yarn, roving, spinning fiber, tools with all pieces present, project bags without stains or holes, and novelties like enamel pins or fiber-themed tees.
Pack items in bags, include any tags or labels you have, and ship in a well-sealed box with the required paperwork from your delivery instructions.
What We Don’t Accept
We will reject — and may dispose of — your entire assessment if items are:
- Infested with pests or show signs of pest damage (bites, holes, eggs)
- Water damaged, moldy, or damp
- Strongly scented (smoke, perfume, air fresheners, animals, bio waste)
- Covered in pet hair that can’t be removed
- Severely tangled or damaged beyond use
If even one item puts our inventory at risk, we may discard the whole batch. No payout will be issued. Only send items you’d feel comfortable using yourself or gifting to a friend.
Important Things to Know Before You Sell
- Once we receive your items, they become ours. We do not return items to sellers for any reason.
- All valuations are final. Once your payout is sent, the transaction is complete and cannot be changed or disputed.
- We buy shipments as complete lots, not individual pieces. We do not provide itemized value breakdowns.
- If your items can’t be sold but are still in usable condition, we donate them to local community craft groups. Items that can’t be donated are disposed of safely.
